New Programs

(STEP 1) New Program Proposal  - New programs may be proposed by a variety of constituents including faculty, deans, staff, curriculum committee members, advisory committees, community members and students. To propose a new program, the constituent member will complete the “New Program Proposal Form” and submit it to PRR for review and consideration. PRR will consider the following when reviewing the New Program Proposal Form:

- Aligns with the mission and current directions in the Educational Master and Strategic Direction
- Builds on or enhances existing programs
- Demonstrates need for/interest in the program
- Does no harm to existing programs

If the proposed new program sufficiently addresses the criteria above, PRR will recommend that
it move to Step 2.

(STEP 2) For programs that reach Step 2, PRR will form a Project Advisory Team (PAT). The PAT will include at least two faculty members, one dean, and one institutional researcher along with the constituent member who proposed the program. For Career and Technical Education programs, an advisory committee member may also be included.

(STEP 3) New Program Research - To be completed by the Project Advisor Team (PAT) for a new program proposal that has been advanced past STEP 1 by PRR.

Program Vitality and Discontinuance Process

If a program has concerns regarding its present and future vitality, it may request the committee’s assistance for a deeper review.

Program Analysis Form (Appendix C - Qualitative) - To be used by PRR as a guide to review and discussion of the program in question.
